Overview:

We are seeking an Estimator to join our team and play a key role in securing and launching successful projects. This position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of heavy civil construction who enjoys analyzing projects, building accurate estimates, and working closely with operations teams from bid through project turnover.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Bid / Estimating

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using software such as Agtek 4D and Bluebeam

  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents

  • Prepare estimates by gathering project requirements and setting priorities

  • Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors

  • Ensure full scope coverage and identify qualified subcontractors

  • Build and manage estimates within HCSS

  • Analyze costs and resolve discrepancies

  • Organize and prioritize multiple bids and deadlines

  • Participate in bid day analysis and scope reviews with the team

  • Prepare detailed scope letters, including inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications

Post-Award / Project Turnover

  • Coordinate turnover of all bid documents to the Project Management team

  • Review drawings, specifications, and job cost breakdowns

  • Highlight key risks, assumptions, and areas of concern

  • Collaborate with Project Management on scheduling and sequencing developed during the bid phase

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or highway construction

  • Experience working in the New York Metro Area is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Site development

    • Utilities

    • Bridge work

    • Earthwork, paving, and concrete

  • Solid understanding of subcontracting and procurement strategies

  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Technical Skills:

  • Agtek 4D and Bluebeam for takeoffs

  • HCSS (HeavyBid) for estimating

  • Microsoft Office Suite

 

Compensation & Growth:

  • Full Time

  • Salary: DOE
